生態学 若手の集いについて

みなさん、生態学会に「若手の会」というものがあったことをご存知ですか？生態学会には、日本国内や海外の学会と比べても非常に多くの会員が所属しており、その専門分野は非常に幅広いです。全国大会などのイベントでは、さまざまな視点や独自の手法に触れる貴重な機会が期待されますが、自分が所属する研究室のなかでは同じテーマについて議論する機会が得られない学生や若手研究者も多いでしょう。初めて全国大会に参加すると、自分の研究を話す相手が限られてしまったり、交流のきっかけが見つからないこともよくあります。

 

そんな悩みを背景に、若手の会は懇親会やウェブサイトなどを通じて活動していましたが、2015年の鹿児島大会で解散してしまいました。そこで、私たちは2016年から新たに「若手の集い」という非公式のコミュニティを設立しました。若手懇親会や自由な交流の場を提供するとともに、SNSやウェブサイトなどを活用して、生態学に関わる人たちが交流できる場を広く提供したいと考えています。特に交流が難しい地方等では研究に孤独を感じることもあるかもしれません。オンライン上での情報共有に加えて全国大会での交流を楽しみにするためにも、気軽に参加してみてください。

主な活動内容

若手の集いは非公式団体として、若手らしく、自由かつ柔軟な活動を基本とします。

ここでは開催される優先順位が比較的高いイベントを順に並べています。

イベントの詳細はHPに掲載されている各種該当ページも参照してください。

  • 若手懇親会：全国大会がオンサイト形式で行われる際には、極力開催しています

  • ライトニングトーク：若手による口頭発表の場として、1人約5分の発表からなるオムニバス形式の自由集会を企画します

  • ホームページやX（旧Twitter）の更新：生態学にまつわる様々な情報の発信を行います

  • その他：ワールドポスターや若手向けアンケートなど、様々な情勢・要望に合わせた活動も行います。

スタッフについて

  • 若手の集いでは、「若手の会」閉会の教訓を活かし、スタッフへの負担を最大限抑えて活動しています

  • また、開催イベントに応じた臨時スタッフを募集して、柔軟に企画運営の体制を調整することがあります

  • 若手の集いでは、コミュニティやイベントの企画運営に伴う研究活動の支障を望みません

  • このため、研究に専念する義務のある学生（特に博士課程）に対するスタッフとしての勧誘は行いません

  • スタッフの負担を最大限抑えるため、スタッフによるサポートやマニュアルを活用した効率的活動を推進します

  • ここでは中心的なスタッフ３名を紹介します

About us

​

The Ecological Society of Japan boasts a sizable membership and a diverse array of specialties, distinguishing it from other societies both in Japan and abroad. While national conventions typically offer valuable chances to engage with different perspectives and methodologies, many students and young researchers often lack opportunities to discuss their work within their own labs. Attending such conferences for the first time, they frequently find themselves restricted in terms of networking, struggling to initiate meaningful interactions.

In light of these challenges, our previous organization, which operated through social gatherings and a website, ceased its activities in 2015. Consequently, we established a new informal community in 2016. Our aim extends beyond facilitating casual gatherings and free exchange among young individuals; we also aspire to foster extensive networking opportunities for ecology enthusiasts through social media platforms and websites. Particularly in remote or less interactive regions, researchers may feel isolated in their pursuits. We invite you to join our online forums for exchanges and information sharing, eagerly anticipating future face-to-face encounters at our national gatherings.

Activities

  • Reception for young ecologist: When the National Convention is held in an on-site format, we do our best to hold this event.

  • Lightning Talks: We organize omnibus-style free meetings consisting of presentations of about 5 minutes per person as a venue for oral presentations by young researchers.

  • Updating the website and X (formerly Twitter): We will disseminate various information related to ecology.

  • Others: We will also organize activities such as world posters and questionnaires for young researchers to meet various situations and demands.

 

Policy for Administration

  • We are working to minimize the burden on our staff by taking advantage of the lessons learned from the closing of the previous.

  • We may also flexibly adjust our planning and management structure by recruiting temporary staff for specific events.

  • We do not wish to have its research activities interfered with by the planning and operation of the community and events.

  • We do not solicit students (especially PhD students) who are obligated to devote themselves to research to join our staff.

  • To minimize the burden on our staff, we will promote efficient activities through staff support and manuals.

  • Here we introduce three key staff members;

  • Yurie Otake (Kyoto Univ.), Tatsuo Abe (Konodai Girls’ school), Tetsuto Sugai (Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute)
